okay first attempt, nice music!

Did you write the music? It's actually pretty cool!

jackkyboy responds:

No, I actually did not :( It's by Buckethead actually, its called Forbidden Zone off the Bermuda Triangle album (his little technoish album)

Nice implementation of the concept, however...

The BGM is awful!
The choice of music is okay, however the sound is distorted and listening becomes unbearable after a couple of minutes.
This is an easy thing to fix in a game, and i assure you - it will make your game much more playable!

Xiotex responds:

Yeah, that may be down to the terrible speakers I used when I hooked up my Korg Radias. I have Genelec 8020A's now and they are fantastic so I am looking into re-mastering the music. Thankfully it's streamed from my site so I can do that at any time :)

Nicely done, but...

While its true that Contra is loveable and the music is timeless,
The soundboard concept is bordering on boring.
If you want to make your soundboard standout, think of adding some unique features...
Still, this gave me my 6 minutes worth of fun, so you get a bonus 6 points.

Final note: the huge filesize is unacceptable. the sound quality is already low (as it should be!!! yeah nintendo!!), so low bitrates would do no harm to the old-school feel.

Ludamage responds:

Ok - in the next time i'll try to do it better ^_^

almost as good as chuck norris!

in terms of stealth... :)
everything here is A-ok smoothness galore, but i would use a different EQ for the strings. in my opinion they need more high freq. i would also review the string envelope, the release is a bit early, like in old casicore synths...
Good job!

Jimbobsthebest responds:

Thanks for the review mate. Yeah my overall mastering is terrible. I'm basically working with a laptop and a pair of head phones so it's extremely difficult for me to EQ and master everything properly.

However, the strings advice is much appreciated. Unfortunately, this music is already being used in a game and so I can't really alter it. But I'll definitely take that in to consideration for my next song.

Cheers, James

Pretty good!

Definitely sounds like dubstep, maybe even good oldschool (pre 2006 lol) dubstep.
the dark feel is perfect! the beat is fantastic and the drum sounds themselves are superb. the bass is distinct and even quite original, unlike many dubstep wannabes that rip the same bassline that everybody else does. The samples and their effects actually sound like a nostalgic psy trance hit. loved the horse :)!

Dis good.

Jimbobsthebest responds:

Cheers for the review mate. Pleased you liked this one. I know what you mean about the same old dubstep basslines and although it is still that blatant wobble bass I tried to stay clear of the cliche bass melodies.

Thanks for the review mate, you know it's all about that horse ;)

Not bad!

This sounds great! loved the Japanese theme, though i would've liked more asian themes in your piece. I'm definitely going to look forward to your next release.

zenodio responds:

Thanks a lot :D

I didn't knew anyone would like this song.

Hi, I'm Dr. Bitz. and i make muzic. guess what? I want to compose muzic for your next flash game! I am in the process of making a demo song, so in the meantime you can listen to two songs i wrote a while back.
